Why Abu Dhabi Leaders seeks closer ties with General Burhan..

Africa News Security World

The UAE has long been accused by Sudan and others of supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have been fighting the regular army for nearly two years an allegation the Gulf state denies, Africa Intelligence has revealed that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) declined to take part in a confidential meeting with UAE 🇦🇪 representatives on 12 May, viewing Abu Dhabi’s pre-meeting demands as excessive…

The UAE is reportedly looking to restore its ties with General Burhan, following the Sudanese Armed Forces takeover of Khartoum in late March a move widely seen as the most significant setback yet for the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the UAE’s demands were assurances that Islamists be removed from government and the revival of pre-war Emirati projects, including a $6bn port in Abu Amama and land investments in SAF-held areas, such as Al-Fashaqa. The Port Sudan government saw these as unrealistic.

While seeking to mend ties with Burhan, the UAE has intensified RSF drone strikes on Port Sudan and backed a counter-offensive in Kordofan. Rather than aiming for full control, Abu Dhabi now appears focused on securing parts to pressure the SAF back to the negotiating table, The UAE is fuelling the war in Sudan by supplying Chinese-made drones to the RSF, including the CH-95 UCAVs.

They’ve also deployed Chinese-origin modified commercial drones for surveillance, strikes, and kamikaze missions, China-based Cobtec Ltd has confirmed the sale of its Sunflower 200 long-range one-way attack unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which has a range of 1,500km, to an undisclosed Dubai-based entity, The acquisition was first reported by @JanesINTEL in January 2024.
