The suspected terrorism incident happened at around 8 am on Saturday, December 4, when the victims using a police lorry were heading to Nairobi from Mandera. The victims encountered the ambush upon reaching the Jabi area within Lafey sub-county, about 40 kms east of Rhamu police station.
The deceased cops have been confirmed to be corporal Joseph Mutua and constable Dominic Rutto Lokonyan. Various injuries Seargent Benard Kariuku sustained a head bullet injury, and constable Geoffrey Matayo had a bullet lodged in his stomach while constable Andrew Kibrogon Rono was shot in the right arm.
