Somaliland orders all Civilian to Evacated from Erigavo City & Surrounding Area..

The Somaliland Authority has issued decisions to strengthen security in Erigavo and the broader Sanag region, A delegation comprising members of legislative bodies assigned to stabilize Erigavo decided that only the police would be responsible for the city’s security, with all civilian forces removed from the area.,,

The delegation mandated for this issue has decided that from today onwards, no one except authorized security personnel may be seen carrying firearms in the city. Legal action will be taken against anyone found in possession of illegal weapons,” said a spokesperson for the delegation.

The delegation also urged residents to be care full and advise not to return in city, emphasizing that Erigavo is not now safe, and there is no reason for them to remain from their homes, The security situation in Erigavo has been uncertain following clashes between Somaliland forces and SSC-Khaatumo troops, which caused the displacement of an estimated 45,000 people.

There are ongoing fears of renewed conflict as some clans in Sanaag and Sool recently called for further confrontation. Additionally, the SSC-Khaatumo leader threatened to bring Erigavo under his administration.
