Somali secessionists’ social media trolls have resorted to the textbook practice of disinformation, dating back to 1995, when the late Mohamed Ibrahim Egal, Somaliland administration president, told the BBC World Service that terrorists were based in Laascaanood, to which the former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Meles Zenawi, responded: “We are familiar with the intricacies of Somali politics.”

A senior security officer of the SSCK administration said that “some political enemies of the SSCK administration are spreading lies similar to those spread by the former Somaliland administration president, Muse Bihi Abdi, who claimed that Al-Shabaab terrorists  were based in Laascaanood.”

Although Sool, Sanaag, Cayn and Khaatumo (SSCK) administration has not officially briefed the media on Jama’s death, the social media is rife with disinformation aimed at tarnishing the image of the new administration, Last week, the Prime Minister of Somalia,  Hamza Abdi Barre, and his council of ministers paid a visit to Laascaanood, where he declared Sool, Sanaag, Cayn and Khaatumo administration to be a federal member state.
