In a mixture of frustration and anger, the Chadian dictator abruptly left the UAE, where he was received with gross contempt. Chadian presidential plane took off from Abu Dhabi Airport for Ndjamena at 18:00 local time. As a security measure, the device was disconnected from the satellite recognition system and its route has been altered via Uganda, the DRC and the RCA instead of the usual route through South Sudan, the RCA and Chad. Despite these precautions, ChadOne observers spotted the Boeing 737 heading north-east towards Uganda…
After four days of crane footing at a hotel in Abu Dhabi, Mahamat Kaka was doubly humiliated: he failed to get an audience with the Emirates president, and found out at the… television that Mohamed Ben Zayed went to Egypt this Saturday without even informing him. On Friday MBZ received the King of Jordan at the airport while Kaka has been in his country since Tuesday. Angry and humiliated, the Chadian dictator ordered a hasty departure before even the breaking of fast, according to a source from his delegation.
This contempt shown by the Emirates towards the Chadian regime is explained by two major reasons. First, Kaka’s incessant visits (six in a year) and his repeated financial demands have irritated Emirati leaders to the maximum. Next, the inconsistency and incoherence of the Chadian junta in its support of Sudanese General Hemedti in his fight against General Burhan’s Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) also weighed in the balance. Despite millions of dollars paid to Kaka and his sidekick Idriss Youssouf Boy, the FSR is facing military difficulties. Emirates have rushed Kaka to put men at their disposal for a large-scale operation in Sudan, which puts the Chadian dictator under double pressure: that of his army and that of the westerners who deter him from intervening in the Sudanese burbie.
In the midst of a presidential campaign and facing chronic cash problems, the Chadian dictator had asked for financial aid of $150 million from the Emirates, a request that was naturally rejected. According to our sources, he would have received $5 million in cash, the time to “reflect” on the Sudanese issue majorly.
