Despite its commercial success, little political progress was made over last 2 decades, Though city’s inner perimeters enjoyed relative peace, nonetheless Shabab Militant controls most of outer parameters, Hiiraan as a region is amongst most unsafe & least developed regions in z country, Leadership, B/weyn produced some of z finest leaders such as A.Abdule, Sh A Jimale.Sadly poor leadership and absent civil society groups makes the city vulnerable to smallest of shocks. Despite all, continued poor leadership could bring regional administration to its knees.
Deployment of repressive forces to B/weyn further exacerbates already complex situation on the ground: namely, planned rigging of (25) parliamentary seats, opposition to HS administration, deep rooted inter-clan mistrust, Shabab militia controls large parts of Hiiraan except municipal towns.
